With the launch of GM’s next-generation EV platform in 2021 the company is pretty convinced its electrified vehicle business will get more profitable. Automakers have been losing money for years on all-electric vehicles such as the Chevrolet Bolt in exchange for meeting tighter environmental regulations while positioning themselves for an expected increase in demand for alternative powertrains. General Motors plans to sell 1 million EVs annually by 2026, driven by ongoing cost reductions and the debut of at least 20 new all-electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles globally by ...
The hurricane recovery and the strong truck and SUV sales weren’t enough to keep the U.S. car sales high in October. Sales for the month fell 1.3 percent compared with a year ago as slowing demand made it almost certain that 2017 will be the first year with declining sales in seven years. Full-year sales almost certainly will fall below last year's record of more than 17.5 million, although most analysts say demand is still healthy. Automakers reported selling 1.35 million vehicles for the month. Ford, Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen all reported gains for October on ...

The fastest-selling used car...
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said Tuesday it is recalling 494,000 medium and heavy-duty Ram pickup trucks, model years 2013-2017. The 2013-2017 model year Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups recalled have 6.7-liter diesel engines, including 443,000 vehicles in the United States. Fiat Chrysler said it is not aware of any injuries related to the issue, but has reports of a small number of fire-related incidents. The company will inspect and potentially replace the water pump. Shares of ...
Do you want to know which are the cars that have earned top marks in a small-overlap front crash test of eight midsize pickups by the Insurance institute for Highway Safety? These are the vehicles that have won the trust of many customers: The Toyota Tacoma double cab, Tacoma access cab, Chevrolet Colorado crew cab and GMC Canyon. The Colorado and Canyon extended cab both earned "acceptable" marks, while the Nissan Frontier king cab and crew cab -- the oldest vehicles tested -- earned "marginal" ratings. IIHS said it tested two body styles of each pickup because ...
