A report made by New York Times found that dozens of people have been poisoned by carbon monoxide since 2006 after failing to turn off the ignition on their keyless cars. The keyless ignition system consists of a device that is carried by the driver, allowing him to start the car with a press of a button linked to the fob. If the key fob is not detected the car will not start. However, if the car has been started it will continue to run ev...
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Friday it was rejecting a petition by Ford to delay recall of about 3 million cars with potentially defective Takata airbag inflators. The agency said it did not find the request by the second largest U.S. automaker to defer a recall until additional testing was conducted "reasonable under the circumstances or supported by the testing and data it has collected to date." Takata inflators can explode with excessive force, unleashing metal shrapnel inside cars and trucks. At least 18 deaths and 180 injuries world...
More than 1 million Mercedes-Benz cars and SUVs are being recalled by Daimler worldwide. The safety recall covers 495,000 vehicles in the U.S., 400,000 in Britain, 76,000 in Canada and a few hundred thousand in Germany, company officials said. An electrostatic discharge, coupled with a broken clock spring and insufficient grounding of steering components, can lead to inadvertent deployment of the driver side front airbag in vehicles subject to the recall, the company said on Monday. As part of the fix, it said dealer...

EV sales in U.S. have grown to an average of 32% annually from 2012-2016 and 45% over the year ending June 2017. Considering these advantages, automakers and investors face several big questions: How fast can we expect EVs to increase market share in the United States? What penetration will they achieve, by when? How will these outcomes be affected by ...
Do you want to know which are the cars that have earned top marks in a small-overlap front crash test of eight midsize pickups by the Insurance institute for Highway Safety? These are the vehicles that have won the trust of many customers: The Toyota Tacoma double cab, Tacoma access cab, Chevrolet Colorado crew cab and GMC Canyon. The Colorado and Canyon extended cab both earned "acceptable" marks, while the Nissan Frontier king cab and crew cab -- the oldest vehicles tested -- earned "marginal" ratings. IIHS said it tested two body styles of each pickup because ...
