Guess who promised to reform its corporate culture from the ground up? It’s Subaru! After the automaker admitted to faking the fuel economy and emissions data on Japan vehicles for at least five years, Subaru wants to grow a brand new culture.Subaru said inspectors at its Gunma and Yajima plants in Japan, where it assembles nameplates such as the Impreza, Outback and Forester, altered fuel economy and emissions data on 903 vehicles. The faulty inspections did not affect export vehicles. The manipulation began in December 2012 but may have started as early as 2002, Subaru said. A lac...
Just like we have previously reported you, April wasn’t the best month for major automakers. Ford, Nissan, Fiat Chrysler and even Toyota have presented low car sales data, and here it comes Subaru with the best April in its history. The gain is entirely attributable to the Crosstrek, which is all-new for 2018. Sales of the compact, raised crossover climbed almost 70 percent for the month to 12,266. Year to date, Subaru has sold 45,728 Crosstreks, an increase of 66.6 percent. That helped push Subaru's total U.S. sales to 53,170 in April and 202,873 fo...
Auto sales slowed in April because of the continuing decline in demand for compact cars and sedans are setting a dark tone as car makers head into the summer selling season. Car sales decreased more than 5% this month compared with the same period last year, analysts think this is partially because there were two fewer selling days this month. Oil prices going up and credit conditions getting tougher create concerns for car maker’s executives. Pickup trucks and sport-utility vehicles continue to perform well amid relatively low fuel prices. But gasoline is continuing...
Ford Motor announced Wednesday that it’s killing sedans from its U.S. dealerships, exception making only its legendary Mustang. By saying good buy to Focus, Fusion, Fiesta, and Taurus, it will double down on trucks and sports utilities. The Focus nameplate will stick around, only in the form of a crossover utility. Ford is not alone, though. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles already cut the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200, focusing on more profitable Jeep SUVs and Ram pickups. General Motors has been reducing its sedan production, also, cutting back on its Cruze compact production. C...
In the first quarter of 2018 new car sales grew by 12.6 percent over the last year as high consumer confidence and low unemployment favored Houston dealerships. Local car dealers sold 22.278 new cars in March, which is more by 6.4 percent over the last year. However, the average price for a new vehicle fell for the second month in a row to $37,217, which is less by $554 or 1.5 percent. Prices fell in all car categories, cars, trucks, and SUVs. Average prices fell because the market share for trucks and SUVs has fallen. Since SUVs and trucks cost more than sedans, a loss in market sh...
