    23 Jan 2018

The Barkleys are back in Subaru's "Dog Tested. Dog Approved" ad campaign. The Japanese automaker aired four TV spots featuring the family of Labrador and golden retrievers Sunday night during the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Two spots showcased the 2019 Subaru Ascent three-row crossover.   The 30-second commercials, titled "Driving Lesson," "Drop Off," "Car Wash" and "Drive Away," feature the Barkleys providing humorous spins on situations in which families find themselves. • BMW reported record sales in 2017, but Mercedes keeps lead
    12 Jan 2018

BMW Group has released its sales numbers for 2017 and they show the last 12 months for the company have been really successful. The announcement even goes on to say “the BMW Group reconfirms its position as the world’s leading premium automotive company,” but there’s a small catch. Nevertheless, the company was outsold by Mercedes-Benz, keeping the order in the three-way German luxury sales race unchanged.  Sales of BMW brand models rose 4.2 percent in 2017 to 2.09 million passenger cars and SUVs, compared with a 9.9 percent gain to 2.29 million at Mercedes, w...

  • Maserati will fix 2018 Ghibli and Quattroporte due to risk of fire
    09 Jan 2018

Maserati North America Inc. is recalling more than 1,000 of its newest luxury cars to fix leaky fuel pipes that increase the potential for an engine fire. The 2018 Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans – with prices starting at $73,050 and $105,600, respectively – have a faulty fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment that may leak gasoline.   The cars haven’t yet been delivered to customers, and they’ll be fixed before individuals are able to drive off with them, according to Matteo Sardi, a spokesman for the carmaker. The company said the flaw, caused by a part...

  • Car brands should make emergency auto braking standard
    29 Dec 2017

The data related to the number of cars sold in 2017 that featured automatic emergency braking systems wasn't especially surprising, but one truth seems to emerge: they are, perhaps obviously, far more common in brands that provide auto braking as standard equipment across the bulk of a model's trim lineup. If it's an option, and especially if it's restricted to a package exclusive to an upper trim level, people will skip it.   Toyota sold the largest number of vehicles with automatic braking – 1.4 million cars out of 2.5 total – which is indicative of the ...

  • Dealers ask for a compensation for recalled cars
    19 Dec 2017

Recalled vehicles are increasingly landing on dealers, but automakers aren't required to compensate them for lost revenue and extra expenses. Dealers are counting on state lawmakers to change that. Even though stop-sales usually affect just a fraction of a dealership's used-cars inventory.          There is no law to adress the problem on used vehicles under a stop-sell recall, but Federal law requires automakers to give monthly payments equal to 1 percent of the value of any new car that can't be sold because of a recall.     ...
