  • Kia takes the first quality spot again!
    21 Jun 2017

J.D. Power has released its 2017 annual report card on vehicle quality and again the first spot has been taken by Kia. Only 72 problems per 100 Kia vehicles were reported, and that’s despite the shake-up in the 2017 U.S. Initial Quality Study rankings that included significant shifts with the German and Japanese brands -- most notably, Toyota and Lexus -- falling behind many U.S. and Korean car brands. The vice president of global automotive company J.D. Power said that Kia is without question the best quality the world has ever seen. The industry is picking up steam and really impr...

  • Toyota remains the most valuable car brand despite airbag recalls
    06 Jun 2017

Toyota defended its title as the world's most valuable car brand in a new ranking, holding off BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Tesla, meanwhile, made the biggest improvement, rising two spots to No. 8 because of a 32 percent increase in its brand value. Toyota's brand value decreased 3 percent to $28.7 billion as increased sales were offset by tough currency challenges as well as increased investment and rising labor costs.   Toyota is seen as a reliable, quality value brand. Even when it was going through its recall problems, the users were saying, ‘What’s all the fuss ab...

  • May auto sales: Ford outsold crosstown rival GM
    01 Jun 2017

US May car sales finally revealed and surprisingly Ford Motor edged its archival and perennial first-place automaker General Motors sales when it came to sales last month. Although likely a temporary blip, Ford outsold crosstown rival GM by about 3,000 new cars and trucks in May, making it temporarily the largest automaker in the U.S. market. It was the first time Ford outsold GM since March 2016. Before that, it hadn't happened since March 2011.  Ford's sales rose 2.4% for the month compared to the same month last year, GM was down 1.4% and the third of Detroit's Big 3, ...

  • Main reasons why the U.S. car sales have peaked
    18 May 2017

We’ve been a bit worried about the car market after Ford Motor announced that it plans to cut 10 percent of its salaried workers. General Motors didn’t show better results, it reported a 4.7 percent sales drop on April, just like Fiat Chrysler who might get sued for using illegal software which violate the U.S. clean-air rules. We’ve been trying to understand the reasons for the slump, and here’s what we got:   Demand has peaked. Last year, there was a record vehicle sales volume of 17.55 million. But the National Automobile Dealers Association forecasts ...
