You might not know that, but in Japan the relationship between the car dealer and the buyer is a much better one than here, in the U.S.. The last time Shujiro Urata wanted to buy a new car in Japan, his phone happened to ring. It was the local Toyota dealer on the phone, asking him if he was thinking about buying a new car. When he replied in the affirmative, the dealer and a coworker showed up at Urata’s doorstep an hour later with two demo cars, which Urata and his wife test-drove around the neighborhood. The Uratas decided to buy a car from the dealer. The dealer also handles their ca...
The new Star Wars movie will hit the theaters in a month and a half, but its carmaker partner Nissan is already seizing on the hype. The automaker on Friday will debut the first TV ad in what will be an aggressive campaign that links its driver-assistance technology to the droids that help steer the spaceships in the movie. This year the automaker will not enjoy the coincidental benefit of sharing a vehicle model name with the movie title, as it did with Nissan Rogue. The hurricane recovery and the strong truck and SUV sales weren’t enough to keep the U.S. car sales high in October. Sales for the month fell 1.3 percent compared with a year ago as slowing demand made it almost certain that 2017 will be the first year with declining sales in seven years. Full-year sales almost certainly will fall below last year's record of more than 17.5 million, although most analysts say demand is still healthy. Automakers reported selling 1.35 million vehicles for the month. Ford, Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen all reported gains for October on ...
Based on costumer reports Toyota and Lexus rank the top 2 brands for reliability for the fifth year in a row. The rankings of the remaining 25 brands reflect a game of musical chairs, however. Consumer Reports' 2017 Auto Reliability Survey found "growing pains" among automakers with new and updated cars and light trucks, with "wonky" engines and "jerky" eight- and nine-speed and continuously variable transmissions, as well as infotainment systems, among the top problems. The magazine said its survey shows some but not all automakers are quick to res...
