    11 May 2017

Nissan has reported its 2016 sales and it seems like the company didn’t really succeed in terms of car sales. Nissan’s operating profit dropped 6 percent in just ended fiscal year. The company’s operating profit declined to 742.2 billion yen ($6.67 billion) in the fiscal year ended March 31.  Net income advanced 27 percent to 663.5 billion yen ($5.96 billion) in the January-March period. • Toyota to recall 228,000 Tacomas in U.S.
    28 Apr 2017

Toyota Motor North America is recalling about 228,000 2016 and 2017 Toyota Tacoma midsize pickups in the U.S. because their rear differentials may leak oil. Differentials leaking oil could become damaged and stop working, causing a loss of vehicle control, Toyota said in a statement Thursday. Damaged rear differentials also create noise and reduce propulsion if the vehicle is driven without being repaired.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recalls page includes a complaint a driver from Honolulu who said on Dec. 18, 2015, that the differential on the his or her 2016...

  • U.S. car sales slowing while European car sales stay high
    27 Apr 2017

China isn’t the only one beating U.S. when it comes to car sales and car production Europe is on its way to do the same. While slowing U.S. sales have hit Ford, its French rival Renault is doing better than ever by reporting a strong performance in Europe, suggesting the European market stays great.   US car sales are expected to fall this year from 2016’s record levels, while Europe’s are forecast to rise slightly, in spite of near-record sales last year. Ford announced first-quarter earnings sharply down on the year, with pre-tax profit falling $1.5bn to...

  • Despite rich offers it's taking longer to sell a new model
    26 Apr 2017

If you think the last time you visited a dealership the dealers seemed more worried or even pushier than before, you might be right. They have a good reason by the way, simply because a new analysis revealed that the selling process of a vehicle now takes longer. That's despite them substantially ramping up incentives meant to sweeten their offer.  While the industry retail sales pace remains high, it is being powered by elevated levels of incentive spending which pose a serious threat to the long-term health of the industry. The latest numbers from showrooms are not pretty. Thro...
