  • Toyota and Lexus rank the top 2 brands for reliability again
    19 Oct 2017

Based on costumer reports Toyota and Lexus rank the top 2 brands for reliability for the fifth year in a row. The rankings of the remaining 25 brands reflect a game of musical chairs, however. Consumer Reports' 2017 Auto Reliability Survey found "growing pains" among automakers with new and updated cars and light trucks, with "wonky" engines and "jerky" eight- and nine-speed and continuously variable transmissions, as well as infotainment systems, among the top problems.  The magazine said its survey shows some but not all automakers are quick to res...

  • Tesla recalls 11,000 Model X crossovers
    12 Oct 2017

Tesla plans to recall about 11,000 Model X crossover vehicles due to possible issues with their second-row fold-flat seats. Only about 3 percent of the electric SUVs being recalled are expected to have issues, which the carmaker said it can correct in about 10 minutes with its mobile service operators.  The problem, which was discovered in internal testing, involves incorrectly adjusted seat cables. Tesla has not received reports of any issues or accidents relating to the problem, it said. “We will be conducting a voluntary recall to inspect the affected vehicles and confirm wh...

  • Honda invests $267million in its Ohio plant
    18 Sep 2017

Honda Motor Co is supporting the increased production of its revamped 2018 Accord sedan model at its plant in Ohio, by investing $267million and adding 300 new jobs. Honda unveiled the newest-generation Accord in July, one of four re-engineered midsize sedans that Asian automakers are betting on to win market share as Detroit rivals shift focus to SUVs, crossovers and pickup trucks.  The new Accord, like rival Toyota Motor Corp's all-new Camry, offers more horsepower, safety technology like standard collision-avoiding braking and better fuel economy although Honda did not release...

  • Average fuel economy down in August
    07 Sep 2017

The average fuel economy of new cars and light trucks sold in the U.S. this August was 24.3mpg, down 0.1 mpg from July. Average fuel economy is up 5.2 mpg since October 2007, the first month researchers Michael Sivak and Brandon Schoettle monitored the market, but down 0.2 mpg from the peak of 25.5 mpg reached in August 2014.  Year-over-year U.S. light-vehicle sales slid 1.8 percent in August, with car deliveries descending 9.5 percen. Across the light-truck segment, pickup and crossover sales rose last month, 3.7 percent and 4.8 percent. Total light-truck sales gained 2.9 percent. T...

  • Ford seeks to cash in on a popular segment such as SUVs and hybrids
    27 Aug 2017

Some credible sources have told us that The Escape plug-in hybrid, Ford Expedition hybrid and Lincoln Navigator hybrid are scheduled for release in 2019. Ford will have a lot of hybrids on the market in just one year, so we’ve been wondering if this means that the automaker will mainly focus on hybrids. Do you also remember that in January, the automaker identified seven of the other models, including hybrid versions of the Mustang and F-150 to be available by 2020?  Ford is investing $4.5 billion to develop these 13 vehicles. Adding hybrid versions of Ford's biggest SUVs m...
