Just like we have previously reported you, April wasn’t the best month for major automakers. Ford, Nissan, Fiat Chrysler and even Toyota have presented low car sales data, and here it comes Subaru with the best April in its history. The gain is entirely attributable to the Crosstrek, which is all-new for 2018. Sales of the compact, raised crossover climbed almost 70 percent for the month to 12,266. Year to date, Subaru has sold 45,728 Crosstreks, an increase of 66.6 percent. That helped push Subaru's total U.S. sales to 53,170 in April and 202,873 fo...
As consumer demand continued to weaken, the most powerful automakers have revealed their car sales for April 2018, and the results weren’t as good as expected. Auto sales have been on a bit of a roller coaster ride this year, with a weak performance in February followed by a jump in sales for some automakers in March.Ford Motor posted a 4.7-percent decline in sales, with retail sales to consumers down 2.6 percent. The No. 2 U.S. automaker said sales of its popular pickup trucks were up 0.9 percent, but SUV and passenger car sales were down 4.6 percent and 15 percent respectively.Nis...
Only a few hours left until General Motors reports its first-quarter 2018 earnings results, and here’s what to expect. Analysts think GM will report first-quarter earnings of $1.28 per share, on average, down from $1.75 in the first quarter of 2017. They expect GM's revenue to come in at $34.6 billion, down from $41.2 billion a year ago.The reason of the huge drop is that GM sold its European subsidiary, Opel AG, in a transaction that closed early in the third quarter of 2017. On a "continuing operations" basis, excluding Opel's results, GM generated $37.3 billion ...
In the first quarter of 2018 new car sales grew by 12.6 percent over the last year as high consumer confidence and low unemployment favored Houston dealerships. Local car dealers sold 22.278 new cars in March, which is more by 6.4 percent over the last year. However, the average price for a new vehicle fell for the second month in a row to $37,217, which is less by $554 or 1.5 percent. Prices fell in all car categories, cars, trucks, and SUVs. Average prices fell because the market share for trucks and SUVs has fallen. Since SUVs and trucks cost more than sedans, a loss in market sh...
New car registration figures for March reveal a sharp drop in sales. The number of sales is 15.7 percent lower compared to the same month last year. A big part of that fall is due to bumper sales in March 2017, as drivers flooded the dealers to beat the then-new road tax system. The old tax model based on carbon dioxide was favorable to diesel cars. That’s because diesel-powered cars emit lesser CO2 than their petrol counterparts. That explains in a way diesel’s decline, with a 37.2 percent fall in sales last month, compared to a fall of 23,5 percent in February.&nb...
