Cadillac and Audi might already tour their semiautonomous driving systems, but BMW is taking some more time before rolling out a high-speed self-driving system. BMW is spending the next couple of years working with suppliers and testing prototypes to ensure the automaker can introduce a system that can operate at high speeds in most highway driving situations, with the added benefit of being a backup operator in fully automated vehicles. BMW's system won't be available until 2021, which puts it several years behind competitors. BMW chose to wait until it could introduce a sy...
Surely, not any of us can afford buying a new car, there are many cases when we don’t even want one and opt for a used one. Gently used vehicles are an appealing alternative, and not the worst one. Japanese automaker Toyota improved sales by nearly 7 percent, Honda's sales fell 2.4 percent. Still, analysts focused on the potentia...
American Motors couldn’t offer enough money to subject the original Jeep Cherokee, the first modern SUV - to a traditional durability testing program ahead of its late 1983 launch, but its chief engineer Roy Lunn, who died in 2017, Aug 5th, at 92 years, steered around the obstacle by securing credentials for the punishing Paris-Dakar Rally. Lunn's engineering team prepared two Cherokees for the event, not to compete but simply to run the brutal desert course and monitor how the Cherokee's "uni-frame" body would take the constant pounding over the bruising, potholed 6,20...
