Just 200,000 plug-in electric cars were sold in the U.S. last year. Although that's the highest number yet, it's still just a little more than 1 percent of the market. Nowadays the general car-buying public at large is aware that EVs exist, but most of them consider that electric cars are not viable and practical. According to the recent data from California, the state's buyers are no more aware of electric vehicles than they were three years ago, when far fewer of them were available. Ford is recalling 2016-2017 Focus RS hatchbacks with potentially faulty head gaskets. The automaker claims they will be replaced free of charge. The affected vehicles may emit noticeable white smoke from the exhaust or show low coolant levels with no sign of external leaks due to the failing head gaskets. Model years 2016 and 2017 Focus RS models built from Aug. 3, 2015 to July 6, 2017 are involved in this recall. Ford plans on ...
Recalled vehicles are increasingly landing on dealers, but automakers aren't required to compensate them for lost revenue and extra expenses. Dealers are counting on state lawmakers to change that. Even though stop-sales usually affect just a fraction of a dealership's used-cars inventory. There is no law to adress the problem on used vehicles under a stop-sell recall, but Federal law requires automakers to give monthly payments equal to 1 percent of the value of any new car that can't be sold because of a recall. ...
Ford Motor Co. plans to end North American production of its Fusion midsize sedan at the end of the decade. The automaker has begun informing suppliers that it will not build the next-generation Fusion at its plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, where the car is currently made. It’s unclear whether Ford would stop selling the Fusion in the U.S., replace it with a different vehicle, or build it elsewhere. A spokesman declined to comment. The car will not be shipped to the United States from China, Ford said Wednesday, denying a Reuters report that the automaker would consolidate global...
