The headlines for Hyundai Motor America's 2016 sales results were the kind any automaker would be proud of: Despite a car-heavy lineup, tight crossover supplies and thin incentive support, Hyundai and the new Genesis brand combined for a seventh consecutive year of record sales. But how Hyundai got there raises questions about the brand's sales tactics and its prospects heading into a softening market, including whether it relies too heavily on sales to rental agencies and to dealerships themselves, dealers and people familiar with Hyundai's sales operations say. Another month, another drop in U.S. new-vehicle sales. Specialists are convinced that U.S. June car sales will mark the sixth consecutive year-over-year decline, which is going to be the worst half of a year since 2014. For June, forecasts from the most popular companies show sales coming in about 2 percent to 4 percent less than a year ago. 402,462 Transit vans were issued for recall by Ford Motor Co., this problem will cost the automaker $142 million. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the Transit issue. Ford disclosed the cost of the recall in a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The charge will be incurred in the second quarter results of the...

The sale will not include some operations related to Takata’s business in the ammonium nitrate airbag inflators that were the subject of a global recall linked to defects that resulted in some airbags exploding with too much force and spraying the cabin with metal shards. Malfunctioning Takata airbag inflators have been linked to at least 16 deaths and 180 injuries worldwide ...
Wall Street is fretting that the U.S. auto industry is heading for a downturn, but for thousands of workers at General Motors factories in the United States, the hard times are already here. Matt Streb, 36, was one of 1,200 workers laid off on Jan. 20 – inauguration day for President Donald Trump – when GM canceled the third shift at its Lordstown small-car factory here. Sales of the Chevrolet Cruze sedan, the only vehicle the plant makes, have nosedived as U.S. consumers switch to crossovers, SUVs and pickup trucks. Streb is looking for another job, but employers are wary because ...
