  • Sports car sales leaving cars in other segments in the rearview mirror
    07 May 2017

Some of you might ask yourself what’s so special about sports cars? They aren’t designed to go off-road, the biggest part of them have space for just one passenger and still the sports cars sales are up in US this Spring.   U.S. sales of compact sports cars are up 3.4 percent in 2017, while overall car demand is off 12 percent, including an 11 percent slump in April. Truck sales, including crossovers and SUVs, have increased 4.4 percent so far in 2017.The big winner among small sports cars this year is Mazda’s MX-5 Miata, which, after a redesign, got off to a slow s...

  • The expectations vs actual car sales for April
    03 May 2017

U.S. auto sales did disappoint a lot as we told you în our previous article: U.S. April car sales decline deeper than expected. You knew about projections of 4% decrease and 3.1% decrease coming from major companies but even so it’s hard to understand what exactly happened with the car market industry.  Here's how major foreign automakers fared: Toyota1st Projection: -4.8%2nd Projection: -4.8%Actual results: -4.4%The Japanese automaker sold 201,926 vehicles in the U.S. in April. • April car sales predictions based on automakers' reports
    01 May 2017

Another year-over-year decline in the automotive industry. This April wasn’t that successful as automakers and dealerships wanted them to be, and this is why we have such low car sales predictions. Declines will be broad-based, with General Motors, Ford, Fiat Chrysler and all other major automakers expected to report lower sales.  Meanwhile, Tesla shares soared to a record high Monday ahead of the electric vehicle maker's earnings Wednesday. April auto sales will likely come in at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 17.1 million, down 1% vs. a year earlier. But that would ...

  • U.S. April car sales to fall down
    28 Apr 2017

We’ve got for you a new forecast, and we are afraid it’s not a positive one. Expect the new car sales in U.S. to drop 3.1% in April to 1.445M units. Sales for mid-size SUVs/crossovers are expected to be 8%, while compact and small car sales are seen falling.  Mid-size SUVs appear to have the largest impact in swaying consumers from buying mid-size cars and minivans, both of which are down 20 percent this year. The 2017 calls for U.S. auto sales might be approximately in the range of 16.8M to 17.3M units, which represents a 1% to 4% decline from last year.  ...

  • Toyota to recall 228,000 Tacomas in U.S.
    28 Apr 2017

Toyota Motor North America is recalling about 228,000 2016 and 2017 Toyota Tacoma midsize pickups in the U.S. because their rear differentials may leak oil. Differentials leaking oil could become damaged and stop working, causing a loss of vehicle control, Toyota said in a statement Thursday. Damaged rear differentials also create noise and reduce propulsion if the vehicle is driven without being repaired.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recalls page includes a complaint a driver from Honolulu who said on Dec. 18, 2015, that the differential on the his or her 2016...
