While Mercedes-Benz sales in the U.S. dropped in May, demand on the German brand's cars in Europe and China grew considerably and helped to offset the general loss.The automaker's sales results in Europe and in China were also helped by robust deliveries of SUVs and compact models, which rose 16 percent and 42 percent respectively. After severe flooding that hit the southwestern Germany, production at Audi's factory in Neckarsulm was halted. The concerned plant builds the A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8 models, as well as the R8 sports car and Audi's performance RS models.Parts of the Audi factory were flooded following heavy rain on Sunday night and early Monday morning.
