US car sales declined during January, we think the reason is pretty obvious: high incentive in December, low sales in January. Even so, the analysts are pretty sure that vehicles sales last month showed good results, and it won’t be the same for February. Customer confidence, better deals on vehicles and low gasoline prices will raise the demand for vehicles once summer sets. The seasonally adjusted annualized sales rate stood at 17.6 million vehicles for the month as compared with 17.9 million vehicles from the last year. We knew that U.S. car and truck sales slipped 1.8% in January as automakers pulled back on bulk sales to rental, government and business fleets and concentrated on more profitable retail sales to individual consumers. Fleet sales, particularly those to rental agencies, are skewed toward passenger cars, which are falling out of favor as consumers shift to sport utility vehicles and trucks. Nissan's Rogue SUV continued to be Nissan’s top seller as sales soared 45.5% in January. It’s important to notice that 62.6% of January U.S. sales were of SUVs and trucks, up from 5...
This may surprise you, but Volkswagen has become the world’s biggest car manufacturer, overtaking Toyota in the number of new vehicles sold in 2016 despite the damage it suffered in the diesel emissions scandal. General Motors is reporting its 2016 sales next week, but industry analysts said it had no chance of overtaking VW. GM was third behind VW last year and held the top spot in 2011, when Toyota’s produc...
America has its favorites when it comes to cars and it's Toyota Camry. Being a leader for 15 years, that is something any car maker would want for its cars. Exclude the pickups and trucks, and no one else can beat the Camry. The question you might have now is will it be able to keep the crown as it got redisigned? We've seen impressive sales of Toyota's RAV4 and Honda CR-V, since buyers are switching to more versatile SUVs and forget about passenger cars. The Camry, last reworked four years ago, has made a living by being a solidly reliable if dull ride for people who si...
Questions about Uber's driver screening aren't about to go away any time soon. A Dallas woman is suing Uber and Honda after her ridesharing driver ran a red light, leading to a crash that left her paralyzed from the chest down. The lawsuit alleges that the parties involved (including the driver and the Odyssey minivan's owner) not only didn't provide adequate safety, but let the driver operate the vehicle without insurance. He had also been arrested for drug and gambling charges that should have been red flags, according to the suit. An Uber attorney had no comment. ...
