Almost half of the year is gone, so it’s getting pretty clear that the U.S. auto sales won’t reach a new record in 2017. We expect the U.S. car sales to reach approximately 17.2 million units in 2017, which is a less than the earlier prediction of 17.5 million. Still not so bad, when we think of all the issues happened in the automotive world by now, right? Based on dealerships' data through the first part of May, the average incentive was $3,583 per unit, a record for the month of May, analysts said. That was up from $3,342 in May 2016. Mini executives want the brand's U.S. dealerships to pursue used-car sales with more vigor. Higher used-car sales would help Mini and its retailers at a time when new-car sales have slumped. So Mini USA launched a program at the beginning of the year that pays dealerships bonuses for hitting used-car sales targets. Each Mini store gets a customized target. BMW’s 7 series sedans from 2005-till 2008 get recalled, after all these years, and it has nothing to do with Trump’s threatens against BMW. It’s important to notice that the issue appeared back in 2012, when some of the vehicles got recalled and fixed, but it seems like a few of them are still featuring this problem. In the 2012 recall, the automaker said a software error was to blame for the unpredictable opening doors on about 7,500 7-series cars. All of...
As part of the efforts to reduce exposure General Motors will slash headcount at its international headquarters in Singapore. GM International -- which oversees markets such as India, Southeast Asia, and South Korea, among others -- will reduce its staff to about 50 from 180 by year end, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. About 90 employees will leave the company by the end of June and 40 by the end of 2017. Last week, the company said it would take a $500 million charge in the second quarter to restructure operations in India, Africa and Singapore. The company plan...
Ford Motor Co. on Wednesday issued two recalls for approximately 3,000 vehicles in North America. The largest involves a call-back of about 2,500 2017 Explorer SUVs, F-150 and Super Duty pickups. The affected vehicles have an improper weld between the driver seat back and the manually operated seat back recliner mechanism that may fail to comply with certain federal motor vehicle safety standards. The vehicles include:• 2017 Ford F-150s built at Dearborn Assembly Plant from Dec. 11 2016 to Dec. 16, 2016.• 2017 F-150s built at Kansas City Assembly Plant Dec. 8, 2016 to Dec....
