Ford said on Wednesday that the only passenger cars that it plans to keep on the North American market will be the Mustang and the upcoming Ford Focus Active which is a crossover-like hatchback that is due in 2019. That means that the regular Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, and Fusion won’t be available in the United States and Canada. Ford will continue to offer its full spectrum of SUVs, trucks, and crossovers. Car buyers who have been purchasing their cars from the same dealership for generations could see a different kind of for-sale sign the next time they visit. The internet has made the field very tough, by making car prices more transparent for customers and giving them the opportunity to shop around. It has also ...
Ford decided not to go for the nine-speed transmission offered by General Motors. The company opted for 2 new eight-speed transmissions on vehicles such as the Ford Edge, Ford Transit Connect and Lincoln Nautilus. A third eight-speed is expected for smaller, lower-torque vehicles. Ford Motor Co. agre...
Sedan sales are falling across the industry, and automakers are reacting to this. General Motors reacts by halving Cruze production at its Lordstown, Ohio factory, probably impacting around 1,500 workers there. This factory only produces Cruze, and there are working just under 3,000 employees. The news comes as sedan sales, in general, are down 13.2 percent this year while crossover, SUV, and truck sales grew seven percent. Sales for the Cruze are even worse than the industry average, 28 percent. Last year, Chevy sold just over 184,000 Cruze models. The sales' decline forced the...
During the last 9 years, more than 800,000 plug-in electric cars were sold in the U.S. Almost half of that number falls on the state of California, which aims for 1.5 million by the year of 2025. Plug-in electric car sales in California are approaching the level of 400,000 vehicles, which is expected to be reached in April. A most recent graphic shows 388,815 sales to the end of March, 12,631 being sold in March alone. California is leading the U.S. in electric plug-in car sales because it is the country’s largest car market, with high wealth and lots of models to c...
