Mercedes-Benz USA is lifting a key restriction on Tier 3 local advertising by dealers. Instead of limiting that ad spending to new-car sales, Mercedes will let dealers use the money to promote any area of the business. Ken Schnitzer, chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Dealer Board and owner of four Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Texas, says that they can spend money on new, preowned, service — whatever they think their need is. He thinks that's really a big improvement. The company's U.S. leaders talked to dealers about the change earlier this month at its national dealer mee...
Apple is facing a lawsuit in California for declining to deploy technology that could prevent iPhone users from texting while driving. Toyota Motor Corp. plans to invest $10 billion in the U.S. over the next five years, the same as in the previous five years. This will be made in order to meet demand and upgrade plants to build more fuel-efficient models. California, home of Silicon Valley and Tesla, has the highest number of electric vehicles in operation, ahead of Georgia, Washington, Florida and Texas. Tesla received 276,000 pre-orders for the “mass-market” Model 3 within two days of it going on sale in April, making it the most popular electric car ever produced Tesla t...
Tesla Motors has approached the Utah Supreme Court to get approval to sell its electric vehicles directly to the public without a third-party dealership, the Salt Lake Tribune says. For the past year, legislators within the state have voted against allowing the California-based automaker to pursue its distribution model. The Utah Supreme Court is expected to take a few weeks to rule on the issue. By approaching the court, Tesla's making good on the intentions made by Tesla chief Elon Musk this summer. Earlier this year, Tesla and Utah were working towards a potential compromise ...
