As consumer demand continued to weaken, the most powerful automakers have revealed their car sales for April 2018, and the results weren’t as good as expected. Auto sales have been on a bit of a roller coaster ride this year, with a weak performance in February followed by a jump in sales for some automakers in March.Ford Motor posted a 4.7-percent decline in sales, with retail sales to consumers down 2.6 percent. The No. 2 U.S. automaker said sales of its popular pickup trucks were up 0.9 percent, but SUV and passenger car sales were down 4.6 percent and 15 percent respectively.Nis...

Ford said on Wednesday that the only passenger cars that it plans to keep on the North American market will be the Mustang and the upcoming Ford Focus Active which is a crossover-like hatchback that is due in 2019. That means that the regular Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, and Fusion won’t be available in the United States and Canada.  Ford will continue to offer its full spectrum of SUVs, trucks, and crossovers. • Ford Recalls 350,000 Trucks and SUVs for Transmission Issue
    10 Apr 2018

Ford is making two safety recalls to fix some mechanical issues that affect the control of the transmission on several 2017 and 2018 models. The manufacturer is aware of one reported injury-causing accident related to the first and largest recall.  This safety recall will affect almost 350,00 pickups and SUVs made in 2018. They want to fix a potentially unseated gear shift cable locking clip which can set the transmission in a different gear state than the one that the driver selects. That means the vehicle could move even when in parking mode, with no warning message on the da...

  • Car brands should make emergency auto braking standard
    29 Dec 2017

The data related to the number of cars sold in 2017 that featured automatic emergency braking systems wasn't especially surprising, but one truth seems to emerge: they are, perhaps obviously, far more common in brands that provide auto braking as standard equipment across the bulk of a model's trim lineup. If it's an option, and especially if it's restricted to a package exclusive to an upper trim level, people will skip it.   Toyota sold the largest number of vehicles with automatic braking – 1.4 million cars out of 2.5 total – which is indicative of the ...
