We knew that when automakers will reveal their April car sales the results will be disappointing, but we had no idea the sales will be this low. The auto industry might be receding from its breakneck pace, which means the chances of getting a third consecutive year with positive results are not so high. Overall, the industry reported a 4.7% sales decline to 1.43 million units. General Motors, Ford, Fiat Chrysler and Nissan each reported deeper-than-expected sales declines for the month. Toyota narrowly edged expectations, but it still recorded a 4.4% decline for the month, compared ...
Another year-over-year decline in the automotive industry. This April wasn’t that successful as automakers and dealerships wanted them to be, and this is why we have such low car sales predictions. Declines will be broad-based, with General Motors, Ford, Fiat Chrysler and all other major automakers expected to report lower sales. Meanwhile, Tesla shares soared to a record high Monday ahead of the electric vehicle maker's earnings Wednesday. April auto sales will likely come in at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 17.1 million, down 1% vs. a year earlier. But that would ...
BMW is a lucky car brand this time, its worldwide sales increased 6% for March. The automaker has delivered 254,862 cars this month, which is a big increase comparing to last year. The company's three premium brands– BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce – also reported a 5.3 percent increase compared to the previous year, with a total 587,237 cars delivered. The carmaker has achieved a strong start to the year, with its X-family models and the BMW 7 Series being the main growth drivers. March was the first full sales month for the new BMW 5 Series Sedan and the customer fe...
Audi of America reported a March sales increase of 2 percent to 18,705 vehicles, as the Q5, Q3 and A4 led the volume gains. March 2017 marked the 75th consecutive month of record sales for Audi of America. The previous March record was set last year with 18,392 vehicles sold. SUV sales remained strong with the volume-leading Q5 posting sales of 4,382 vehicles, an increase of 18 percent for the month. Sales of the Q3 rose 21 percent over last year to 1,818 vehicles. The Q7 posted 2,660 sales for the month. The A3 Sportback e-tron had its second-best sales month ever with 414 vehicles...
March has been a hard month for automakers, dealerships and car sellers because the car sales records reached last year couldn’t be repeated in 2017 again. The interest rates are rising but the used-vehicle prices are falling down. Industrywide deliveries lowered to an adjusted annual pace of 16.6 million vehicles, falling short of analysts’ expectations of 17.2 million. In that report we highlighted the risks to the industry from rising rates, rising negative equity in vehicle loans and used vehicle-price deflation. This could lead to deteriorating affordability, delaye...
