Despite a record high for consumer discounts, specialists forecast a 1% drop of U.S. auto sales. September U.S. new vehicle sales will be 1.43 million, down 0.8% from a year earlier. The seasonally adjusted annualized rate for September will be 17.7 million vehicles, down from 18 million on the same basis a year earlier. Even retails sales to consumers, which don't include multiple fleet sales to rental agencies, businesses and government, were seen declining 1.4% in September. It would be the fifth month in the past seven to show a retail sales decline. Wall Street analysts expect a ...
Volvo's CEO says that Volvo Car USA has turned the corner with two of its 90-series vehicles on sale and others due early next year. A U.S. sales increase of 29 percent through August is evidence that Volvo's gutsy revival strategy was the right choice. Volvo is building all its vehicles on its flexible Scalable Product Architecture, or SPA. And it is using only turbo and supercharged Drive-E engines paired with optional plug-in hybrid power. Lex Kerssemakers says that the company is on a turnaround in the U.S. that started with the XC90. Volvo was starved for product for y...
The US auto sales have been booming for the past few years, and some of the upsurge has been driven by so-called “subprime” lending and by extended terms on loans. We can still expect for 17.3 million this year. A slight ...
Meet and greet a new car luxury marque, the first one of the 21st century. It's been more than 25 years since a major automaker launched a luxury brand, the times of Infiniti and Lexus joining the U.S. market as the luxury vehicles of Nissan and Toyota. In the next 18 months you need to expect for the Korean carmaker to peddle its G80 and G90 sedans, both are descendants of products which used to be once under Hyundai's brand. Meanwhile, the brand is challenging its brand image, promoting it from scratch to scratch, and conveying it to consumers. The automaker know...
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said it is recalling 1.9 million vehicles worldwide for an airbag defect that is linked to three deaths and five injuries. The aim of this recall is to resolve a defect that may prevent deployment of airbags and seat-belt pretensioners in some crashes. The recall includes models sold between 2010 and 2014, including the Chrysler Sebring, 200, Dodge Caliber, Avenger, Jeep Patriot and Compass SUVs. The data shows that about 1.4 million of the vehicles covered by the recall are in the U.S. Another 142,959 units are in Canada. The recall is the latest in a seri...
