Ferrari Recalls 2016 California T Convertibles For Fire Risk

Ferrari is recalling some 2016 California T vehicles because of the risk of fire from a fuel leak.

The recall affects all 2016 Ferrari California T models made from September 8, 2015 to November 11, 2015. That’s 185 cars in all, here in the United States.

The vehicles in question come with a low pressure fuel line that might not connect properly to the fuel pump feed pipe. The poor connection can lead to a fuel leak in the engine bay, hence the fire hazard.

The California T Convertibles have a base price of more than $231,000. Over 50 Ferrari dealers received a stop sales notice of the California T vehicles in November 2015. Ferrari has notified all the affected car owners about the recall.

Ferrari will fix all of the affected models free of charge according to the company’s notice.

An NHTSA filing suggests that the fuel leaks in the 2016 California T cars are a result of a manufacturing defect in a part that has been provided by a supplier. The recall began on Dec. 14.
