Audi has announced it is still committed to hit the 2-million annual sales objective by the year 2020.
This is a rather bold target, despite the ongoing Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal which has affected over 2 million Audi models.
The premium automaker managed to sell 1.74 million vehicles worldwide last year and in the first 10 months of 2015, shifted to a total of 1.5 million cars.
Audi has a few new models that will likely sell in crazy numbers. The first will be the Q2 entry-level crossover set to go on sale in the second half of next year, following a world premiere in Geneva in March.
Sometime in 2018, Audi will introduce the fully electric Q6 which will be followed a year later by the flagship Q8. Audi believes that by the end of the decade, 40% of its total sales will consist of crossovers and SUVs.
Rupert Stadler told that Audi makes real money with cars that cost more than €50,000. He went on to specify there’s going to be a “true offensive” in that area with the new generations of the A5, A6, A7 and A8 due to arrive in the years to come.
