Mark Sumpter, Uckfield classic car enthusiast with his 1960 Chrysler, is almost to the final of a nationwide competition of the Classic American Car of the Year. The competition is made at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show and the winner will be announced on Sunday.
There also other classic vehicles participation at the competition, like a Plymouth Barracuda, a Ford Mustang, and a Plymouth GTX.
Mark started collecting classic cars with a 1957 Chevy but he always was a fan of Plymouths, Chryslers and DeSotos.
This 1960 Chrysler 300F he brought in 2012. It’s a rare triple-black car, with black bodywork, black roof and black trim. For this he should sell his Cadillacs and a Plymouth Superbird to justify the purchase of this car.
How will he feel if he wins the competition? “I feel a bit of a fraud even getting this far because I bought mine in this condition. But it’s an honour to be chosen, I’m very proud, and I’m looking forward to showing my car at the Classic Motor Show whether I win or not.”
