Sales of new vehicles are expected to tick up this year, because of steady interest rates and firmer brand. There had been three years of declines in auto sales. Before that, we had a number of very good years didn’t we, so are things just leveling off? The answer is yes. We had a couple of good years post the recession 2008-09. We had five or six years of consecutive growth and the last few years have seen the vehicle sales decline, mainly as a result of the depreciation of the brand. What we’ve seen is customer demand has not reduced at all over the course of the last t...
Just imagine what you’d feel if on your way to the dealership your car would disappear. You might think that’s crazy, but that’s exactly what happened to the car of this couple who simply came at the dealership for a repair. The couple dropped the car here and this was the last time they’ve seen it. Here’s what the owner has to say about the incident: I bought a car, 2005 Mustang GT, bright yellow, can't miss it, back in June of last year. Since Donald Trump has become the new U.S. president he has been vowing to turn American trade policy toward a more protectionist stance. That includes imposing a 35 percent tariff on imported cars, could have far-reaching consequences for European automakers. Many European automakers produce and even export cars from the United States and Mexic...
U.S. light vehicles from the 2016 model year will be the first to fall short of federal fuel economy targets in more than a decade, according to a new projection from regulators that could buttress a push by automakers to ease efficiency standards. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration forecasts that 2016 models will average 32.1 miles per gallon, below the target of 32.8. The agency forecasts another shortfall in model year 2017 of 31.8 miles per gallon compared to a projected target of 33. The U.S. fleet has exceeded industrywide fuel economy targets every year since ...
Electric car sales in the U.S. continued their strong showing in February, and that exactly means that despite rumors we’re having another monthly record. The 12,049 plug-ins sold last month translate to roughly a growth rate of 55 percent and plug-ins now stand at a 0.90 percent market share. The big challenge, though, will be March, since that month in 2016 saw nearly 14,000 sales. The best-selling model so far this year has been the Chevrolet Volt, but a maturing market with a growing number of competitors means the differences between the leaders is pretty small. GM ...
