It's time to congratulate Ford Motor Co, since it's taking a much different approach to fleet sales than rival General Motors. While GM plans to slash sales to daily rental companies by 75,000 units this year and has plans for more cuts in 2017, the Blue Oval has held steady. Ford's president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs says the the automaker doesn't see an adjustment necessary in the daily rental. Through November, Ford's daily rental sales are at the same level they were a year ago: 11 percent of its total sales. Year to date, Ford's total fleet sales are...
We all know how the auto industry has changed under Obama's administration, new regulations and policies intended yo increase fuel economy, improve safety and add jobs. Now that Donald Trump was elected as the new president the car industry is gonna face a wholesale makeover. Perhaps no industry could be affected in more ways by the new administration than the auto business. Donald Trump tangled with the auto industry during the presidential campaign, decrying in particular Ford's plan to relocate small-car production to Mexico. While that pace is off from 18.1 million a year earlier, it’s faster than any analyst estimate in surveys. The average projection was for a 17.5 million rate. Automakers’ results released are giving investors new evidence to determine whether the industry’s expansion is coming to an end after a record 2015 -- or if there is more room for economic-driven growth. Concerns ...
U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer on Tuesday delayed a court hearing set for Wednesday on Volkswagen Group's plan to address 80,000 polluting Audi, Porsche and VW 3.0-liter vehicles. In a court order, Breyer said negotiations are continuing between the German automaker, regulators and lawyers representing owners, and he set a Dec. 16 hearing, saying he had been advised that a delay "may produce a resolution of the outstanding issues." VW had reached an agreement with U.S. regulators for a mix of buybacks and fixes for the 80,000 vehicles, but still needed to reach agreement on o...
