We were expecting for car sales to calm down in February, but despite all the expectations and predictions we were still hoping for better results. Bad news, U.S. auto sales showed to be even less resilient this month than anticipated. If we have to compare these results with February last year, than they are down 1.1%. Automakers like General Motors (GM), American Honda Motor Co., and Nissan North America reported new-car sales gains from a year ago. Volkswagen Group, plus the premium German nameplates and three independent brands, also posted sales increases. However, Ford Motor Co. (Ford) a...
We have a new forecast for this month’s car sales and it includes a 3.3% drop to only 1.3 million units. Await for a decrease of 21% for the mid-size cars. Even with all the drops and decreases we can still say that the sales pace for the industry is healthy, and what’s more important it looks sustainable, as we head into high volume selling months ahead. Retail growth for manufacturers will be tough to achieve in February, as consumer demand remains relatively flat despite increased incentives. Regardless of the expected dip in overall volume, at a SAAR of more than 17 ...
After 3 years of vehicles ownership the most dependable carmakers seem to be Porsche and Lexus. The non-premium label is lead my Toyota. For the sixth year in a raw Lexus tops the list of the most dependable car brands of US. The streak puts Lexus halfway to tying its record of 12 consecutive titles for most dependable brand from 1997 to 2008. Toyota, Buick and Mercedes-Benz rounded out the top five brands overall. Mercedes, Hyundai (No. 6), BMW (No. 7) and Jaguar (No. 10) were newcomers to the Top 10 this year, while GMC, Acura, Ram and Lincoln dropped out. The industry averaged 156...
US car sales declined during January, we think the reason is pretty obvious: high incentive in December, low sales in January. Even so, the analysts are pretty sure that vehicles sales last month showed good results, and it won’t be the same for February. Customer confidence, better deals on vehicles and low gasoline prices will raise the demand for vehicles once summer sets. The seasonally adjusted annualized sales rate stood at 17.6 million vehicles for the month as compared with 17.9 million vehicles from the last year. Here's a detailed look at the auto sales of the automake...
The Indian multinational automotive manufacturing company Tata Motors reported a 96 percent fall in net profit for its third quarter, citing sharply lower earnings at its British luxury automaker Jaguar Land Rover and losses in its domestic business. Consolidated net profit for the three months to Dec. 31 fell to 1.12 billion rupees ($16.7 million) from 29.53 billion a year earlier. Total income from operations fell 4.3 percent to 685.41 billion rupees. Retail sales of its Jaguar sedans and Land Rover SUVs rose 8 percent to 149,288 vehicles in the three months through December from ...
