Fiat Chrysler Automobiles got an offer from a well-known Chinese automaker to buy it, but at a small premium over its market value. Of course the offer was rejected because of the price offered, but what’s more important here is that the Chinese powers started to show interest in Fiat. Meanwhile, other sources independently identified executives from other large Chinese automakers conducting their own due diligence on a potential purchase of FCA, including meeting last week with representatives of U.S. retail groups about a potential acquisition. The Chinese company that owns Volvo called Geely has just acquired the startup behind the world's most promising flying car. On Monday, Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., and Senator John Thune, the Republican chairman of the Commerce Committee, said in a joint statement...
Volvo was doing really good in 2016 and its revealed double-digit earning improvements proves that. The automaker forecasts a fourth consecutive year of record sales for 2017, in this goal it will be helped by the arrival of new models such as second-generation XC60 and the all-new XC40. Operating profit rose 66 percent to 11.0 billion Swedish crowns ($1.24 billion) and revenue increased 10 percent to 180.7 billion crowns. That helped improve the automaker's profit margin to 6.1 percent compared with a 4 percent margin in 2015. Since being bought by China's Zhejiang Geely Ho...
