  • New Car Sales Drop 15.7 Percent in March
    11 Apr 2018

New car registration figures for March reveal a sharp drop in sales. The number of sales is 15.7 percent lower compared to the same month last year.  A big part of that fall is due to bumper sales in March 2017, as drivers flooded the dealers to beat the then-new road tax system. The old tax model based on carbon dioxide was favorable to diesel cars. That’s because diesel-powered cars emit lesser CO2 than their petrol counterparts. That explains in a way diesel’s decline, with a 37.2 percent fall in sales last month, compared to a fall of 23,5 percent in February.&nb...

  • No more future for gasoline engines
    13 Sep 2017

Specialists have revealed a new analysis that suggests how doomed is the gasoline engine for the automotive industry. It seems like the gasoline engine is the “horse” of the new century, a bit too old and outdated, but still a method to ride to the place you need.  Along with a spate of recent commitments to electric vehicles by governments and car companies, the study offers hope about the prospects for weaning the transportation sector off carbon. A German newspaper “Bild am Sonntag” said a week ago that the California Air Resources Board (CARB) had this summer discovered cheating software in an automatic transmission Audi, which is unrelated to the device that triggered last year's diesel emissions test-cheating scandal at parent VW Group.  The software in CARB's discov...

  • Land Rover doesn't hunt for big car sales
    18 Nov 2015

Boss Ralf Speth plans to grow in business and to have a steady place in automotive industry, rather than enjoying the sales volumes as their German competitors do. “We won’t sell millions, or be high street,” he said about Jaguar Land Rover, which has multiplied its annual car sales to almost half a million since Tata took over the company in 2008. Speth pointed out that BMW sold more in the last period than JLR will in the whole year of 2015. So they still had to compete on a global basis.Speth takes as a target the CO2 vehicles. But before this JLR expands its products...
