Ford today announced plans to build a fully autonomous vehicle within five years. The car will have no steering wheel, gas pedal or brake pedal, and it will be used for ride-sharing or ride hailing services. Hyundai Motor Co. and its smaller affiliate, Kia Motors Corp., saw their combined U.S. sales rise by more than 6 percent in July, thanks in large part to strong sales in sport utility vehicles. The two South Korean auto giants sold 134,972 units in the U.S. market last month, up from 127,324 units in the same month last year, exceeding the country’s automobile industry average growth rate of 5.3 percent.
