  • Chevy Is Making More Bolts To Keep Up With Growing Demand
    10 Jul 2018

If you think that electric-vehicle startups like Tesla would push mainstream automakers out of the EV game, think again. In fact, General Motors has had such strong demand for the Chevy Bolt that it had to increase production. In its financial reports for the first half of this year, GM confirmed that it’s ramping up production of the electric hatchback by 20 percent thanks to strong demand in the US, Canada, and South Korea.  Global sales of the Bolt have been up more than 40 percent from January through June of this year. Chevy sold 7,858 units of the Bolt just in the US so f...

  • Tesla Blames Bosch for Model S Recall
    06 May 2018

Tesla has issued a voluntary recall for around 123,000 early made Model S sedans due to complaints from some owners about corroding power-steering bolts that are exposed regularly to calcium or magnesium road salts. These salts are used in cold climates usually. The recall announcement noted that there have been no accidents or injuries caused by this problem, and the recall was issued as a precautionary measure. The voluntary recall relates to Model S sedans that were manufactured previous to April 2016. Model S sedans manufactured after this date seem to be unaffected. The bolts, that w...

  • Car Dealerships Facing a Dilemma: Get Big or Get Out
    23 Apr 2018

Car buyers who have been purchasing their cars from the same dealership for generations could see a different kind of for-sale sign the next time they visit. Small to mid-size dealer groups are selling their businesses to car-retail giants or investment firms.  Dealers say that they need to get triple revenue in the next 5 years to offset shrinking margins and increasing competition from companies that did not exist a decade ago. The internet has made the field very tough, by making car prices more transparent for customers and giving them the opportunity to shop around. It has also ...

  • General Motors will no longer report its monthly sales
    02 Apr 2018

General Motors will stop reporting the U.S. vehicle sales. The company thinks that the snapshot of 30-days doesn’t reflect the actual situation of the market. GM will also no longer report monthly sales in China, its largest market, and Brazil.  The company will still have to provide its monthly sales to the U.S. Federal Reserve, industry associations and government agencies across the globe but the information won’t be public for simple people anymore. GM and its Detroit rivals Ford Motor Co and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV have relied heavily on sales of high-margin pic...
