While the automotive experts report a car sales growth in the first half of this year for the majority of the mainstream automakers, BMW group sees its brand sales in the United States down 9% over the same period a year ago.
However several of BMW key models showed strong results: the X3 sport activity vehicle registered a 69.5% increase in sales for the period while the 7 Series increased its sales by 69.2% and the 2 Series notched an increase of 139.4% over the first six months. On the other hand Mini USA sales dropped 16.9% from 2015 sales figures.
Sales of the company’s certified pre-owned vehicles did set a record in June 2016 with 10,158 sold, which was an increase of 8.9% over the same time last year. Pre-owned sales also set at sales record with 17,420 sold in June 2016, an increase of 15.6% over the same time last year. Even the total pre-owned sales for Mini in the U.S. were up 5.4% over the first six months of the year. As the mid-point to the year always brings some uncertainty about what may be ahead in the second half, things may change in the next months.
