In 2006, the Ferrari Enzo was split in half, with the cockpit and nose on one side of the highway and the engine with its subframe on the other along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California.

The car was offered at auction — not in its mutilated state, but in like-new condition. The once wrecked Enzo, chassis number 135564, sold at a Sotheby's auction in Paris this week for more than $1.7 million. It was one of the top lots at RM Sotheby's auction.
