  • Houston Car Sales Climbed, Prices Fell in March
    19 Apr 2018

In the first quarter of 2018 new car sales grew by 12.6 percent over the last year as high consumer confidence and low unemployment favored Houston dealerships. Local car dealers sold 22.278 new cars in March, which is more by 6.4 percent over the last year.  However, the average price for a new vehicle fell for the second month in a row to $37,217, which is less by $554 or 1.5 percent. Prices fell in all car categories, cars, trucks, and SUVs. Average prices fell because the market share for trucks and SUVs has fallen. Since SUVs and trucks cost more than sedans, a loss in market sh...

  • Less car buyers consider switching to electric cars
    19 Feb 2018

Just 200,000 plug-in electric cars were sold in the U.S. last year. Although that's the highest number yet, it's still just a little more than 1 percent of the market. Nowadays the general car-buying public at large is aware that EVs exist, but most of them consider that electric cars are not viable and practical.   According to the recent data from California, the state's buyers are no more aware of electric vehicles than they were three years ago, when far fewer of them were available. This makes electric-car advocates worry that growing electric-car sales will arrive o...

  • U.S Car Sales decline in 2018
    03 Jan 2018

This year was not good for U.S. car sales, academics and researchers are talking about a pangent but not the worst decline in 2018. There are not so many specialists who dare to have a look beyond 2018, but Morgan Stanley did it and he doesn't like what it sees, with a technology-obsolescence inspired downturn so awful governament subsidies may be necessary to support the market.Meanwhile forecasts for 2018's decreases with 1.5% to off 5%. BMI Research rekons sales in 2018 will go down with 1.5%after a 1.1% fall this year. The Center for Automotive Research  at the University...

  • Audi of America marks November sales increase
    12 Dec 2017

Audi of America, a unit of AUDI AG, reports a November sales increase of 12 percent to 19,195 deliveries, as the Q7, new Q5 and the new-to-the U.S. A5 Sportback, lead consumer demand.  Consumer demand for the new Q5 and Q7 helped drive November's sales increase. Deliveries of the Q5 were up 31 percent to 5,467. The Q7 deliveries increased to 3,292, and have now increased 23 percent year-to-date. SUV sales for Audi increased 23 percent to 10,351.  The addition of the A5 Sportback to the A5 Cabriolet and Coupe lineup has brought total sales to 2,243 over last November. Sa...

  • Retailers up in October thanks to vehicle sales
    16 Nov 2017

U.S. retail sales unexpectedly rose in October as an increase in purchases of motor vehicles and a range of other goods offset a decline in demand for building materials, suggesting consumer spending remained fairly strong early in the fourth quarter. Retail sales increased 0.2 percent last month. Data for September was revised to show sales jumping 1.9 percent rather than the previously reported 1.6 percent advance. Retail sales increased 4.6 percent on an annual basis.  Economists forecast that retail sales would be unchanged in November. The slowdown from September's robust pa...
