BMW AG is going to revive North America output of its best-selling U.S. model, at the same time it will begin producing the next-generation 3-series sedan in a new factory in Mexico starting in 2019.
The company will probably build another vehicle, but first of all it plans on making 150,000 3-series cars. Yes, if you're thinking about the money than you're right, the company had to invest $1 billion which was its first step to planting the root in the second North American manufacturing hub. You have probably observed already that the 3-series was one of the best selling luxury cars in U.S. and that is the reason why it will get updated in 2018. It is clear that just like other companies investing in Mexico BMW Group will create 1,500 jobs, which will help on growing the economy in Mexico. Also it is important to be mentioned that BMW won't have to pay local taxes for 10 years.
The company will profit from the new deal a lot, considering it will avoid 10% duty that it pays on vehicles exported from the Spartanburg factory. We hope that after this step the company will have higher sales than it had this year on its 3 series line, because it have slipped 27% to 26,157.
