BMW has sold 397 i8 coupes here in the US. As of this week, more than half those owners will receive recall notices.
16 units of its i8 hybrid sports car in the US has issued a recall because of the drilled holes in the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). The hydraulic unit could restrict the movement of one or more of the part's pistons. The affected units were produced between May 29, 2015, and June 5, 2015.
"Impaired DSC functionality may negatively impact vehicle handling and braking and increase the risk of a crash," the recall documents warn.
The recall will start on February 10.
