  • Tesla fires 400 employees for an unknown reason?
    15 Oct 2017

According to the local news report and a former Tesla employee, the electric vehicle maker fired about 400 employees last week. The dismissals were a result of a company-wide annual review, Tesla said in an emailed statement, without confirming the number of employees leaving the company.  "It's about 400 people ranging from associates to team leaders to supervisors. We don't know how high up it went," said the former employee, who worked on the assembly line and did not want to be identified. Though Tesla cited performance as the reason for the firings, the source ...

  • Trump might switch to a bilateral trade pact with Canada
    11 Oct 2017

If Donald Trump won’t reach the deal with Mexico to substantially revise the North American Free Trade Agreement, he could switch to a bilateral trade pact with Canada. He said to reporters he could envision maintaining free trade with Canada.  He spoke at the White House alongside Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on a visit to try to convince the U.S. leader of NAFTA's merits as a new round of renegotiations began near Washington. 14 Sep 2017

Facebook, the world’s biggest social network doesn’t want to compete with automakers, at least that’s what Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer says. She said it with charm and in a bit of a funny manner, mentioning that Facebook is the only company in Silicon Valley that’s not building cars.  But Facebook is sponsoring a "new mobility world" at the Frankfurt show that brings together carmakers, tech companies and start-ups in areas such as autonomous driving and electric cars. Sandberg's visit to Germany comes after the coun...

  • Mercedes-Benz S-Class cabrio showing off its OLED taillights
    28 Aug 2017

Are you waiting for the Frankfurt auto show coming up next month? If yes, we have good news for you. It seems Mercedes will be showing an updated S-Class cabriolet and coupe. The new teaser trailer from the company shows off the cabrio and its fancy new OLED taillights.  You can see the left rear lamp in close detail, the better to highlight all 33 individual OLED elements. They're arranged in three rows, and you can see how the company took advantage of the thin profile of OLEDs in how the elements overlap each other and curve around the lamp. The company says each one is indivi...
