    02 Apr 2018

Tesla said on Friday, 30th March 2018 that Tesla Model X that was involved in a fatal crash in California last week had to activate its Autopilot system. Tesla also mentioned that the logs from the accident showed that the driver did not take any action before the crash occurred despite all the warnings to put his hands on the wheel.  The driver had about five seconds and 150 meters of unobstructed view of the concrete divider with the crushed crash attenuator, but the vehicle logs show that he did not take any action. Tesla did not mention why the Autopilot system did not detec...

  • Cars most likely to be involved in accidents
    18 May 2017

According to the National Safety Council, there are more than 27,000 car accidents each and every day in the United States. Nobody is seriously injured in the majority of these crashes, but the vehicles definitely sustain damage, and not all of that damage is reported to insurance agencies or repaired. The crash drew enormous attention and raised questions about the safety of systems that can perform driving tasks for long stretches with little or no human intervention.&nbs...

    18 Jan 2017

Apple is facing a lawsuit in California for declining to deploy technology that could prevent iPhone users from texting while driving. The complaint claims that Apple has had the ability to block texting capabilities while someone is driving since 2008, and seeks to halt all sales of the iPhone until the tech giant installs the preventative software.  The plaintiff, Julio Ceja, was injured in a car accident by another driver who was using her iPhone. The proposed class action seeks to represent all California residents. The lawsuit isn’t the first time Apple has faced legal tro...

  • Self-driving Volvos have issues days after defying CA regulators
    20 Dec 2016

Not even a week has passed since Uber introduced a fleet of self-driving Volvo XC90s to the streets of San Francisco, all in defiance of California regulators telling Uber to stop. Since then, the autonomous Volvos have been seen running red lights, ignoring stop signs, and failing to yield to pedestrians, obviously all dangerous and illegal moves. It seems there is one more problem to add to that list, as Uber has admitted to The Guardian that its vehicles have problems navigating through bike lanes.  Like with the other incidents, there have been first-hand reports of Uber's Vo...
