  • Driver Assists Still Aren’t Advanced Enough According To IIHS
    15 Aug 2018

Driver assists are now so advanced, we often take technology that can take care of accelerating, braking, and steering in certain situations for granted. But, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, these convenient assists are still no substitute for human drivers.  As reported by Automotive News, the IIHS tested the Level 2 driver assistance systems on vehicles from Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Volvo and found that each system has potentially dangerous weaknesses. • New Volvo Factory May Already Be Hurt By Trump Tariffs
    26 Jun 2018

Volvo had barely savored its new factory in Charleston, South Carolina before newly imposed tariffs threatened its future. This plant was opened to build the all-new S60 sedan as well as the next-generation XC90 SUV. Volvo was set to hire around 4,000 new employees, but Automotive News Europe reports that these plans might be up in the air due to the fear of the tariffs.  If these tariffs are imposed, it could have a major effect on Volvo’s new factory. Volvo’s CEO Hakan Samuelsson said that if there are trade barriers and restrictions, they won’t be able to create ...

Volvo thinks that these initiatives will help it transform its connection to consumers and help it develop new connected services for consumers and generate prem...

  • Volvo Will Dump Diesel Starting With Next S60 Sedan
    18 May 2018

Volvo will not offer a diesel in its new S60 sedan, which will be released this spring. The new S60 will be available with a range of four-cylinder gasoline engines as well as two versions of its gasoline-electric plug-in hybrid powertrain.  This move comes as Volvo accelerates its shift toward electrified powertrains and away from diesels, which accounted for almost 80 percent of its sales in Europe last year. Diesel sales have taken a hit in Europe because of potential bans on older, more polluting cars with the powertrain and the high cost of improvements to ensure that new d...

  • Car Companies Started Offering Monthly Subscriptions for Drivers
    13 May 2018

About a third of the 17 million cars expected to be sold in the U.S. this year are leased. The rest of them are purchased. However, there’s a new option for drivers coming in 2018 – car subscriptions. It is addressed to people that do not want to own a car but want to have access to a range of cars whenever they want.  So, by paying a monthly fee to access a variety of vehicles they can change up when they want. The flat fee starts from $400 and gets to as much as $3,700, depending on the company, and most often comes with insurance, maintenance, roadside assistance, pick...
