  • Trucks Are Outselling Cars By Two-To-One In The United States
    04 Jul 2018

Because of low gas prices, people are trading their small cars for large trucks and SUVs. Back in 2013, the US car market was split between cars and trucks, but trucks have seen a massive boom in popularity. Automotive News reports that through May 2018, trucks outsold cars by two-to-one.  Automakers like Ford are changing their strategies, killing off small sedans and hatchbacks to focus on SUVs and mid-size trucks. Many experts predict that truck sales will continue to grow well into the next decade. As trucks become more popular, cars are experiencing their worst sales year in dec...

  • Automakers Are Working Together To Get Rid Of Car Keys
    26 Jun 2018

Car keys have evolved a lot since the introduction of the automobile. Keys started off as metal sticks that you’d turn in an ignition, but have evolved into proximity key fobs that you carry around to trigger a start button. Proximity keys are great because they allow drivers to get in their cars without having to reach into their pocket.  The next generation of car keys is in development right now as automakers begin to replace expensive key fobs with something we already carry around in our pockets: a smartphone. Tesla has already introduced the idea of using a smartphone as ...

  • Audi Teams Up With Hyundai To Develop Hydrogen Fuel Cell Tech
    25 Jun 2018

Hydrogen fuel-cell technology is promising but also requires a lot of investment. And while some automakers are going at it alone, others are collaborating on fuel-cell development. Audi and Hyundai announced a joint initiative that will see the two sharing technologies, cross-licensing patents and giving each other access to non-competitive components.  The idea is to put fuel cells into volume production faster and more efficiently. Both carmakers have been investing heavily in fuel-cell development for years. Audi rolled out its first A2H2 prototype in 2004, the Q5 HFC in 2008, an...

  • Kia Recalls Half A Million Vehicles In The U.S. Due To Airbag Problem
    13 Jun 2018

Following news in March that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was looking into reports of faulty airbags in cars made by Kia and its affiliate Hyundai, Kia has announced that it’s recalling more than half a million vehicles in the U.S. because of this issue.  The NHTSA decided to investigate this matter after learning of six accidents in which four people died and six were injured. In each of the crashes, the airbags failed to deploy because of an apparent electronic glitch. Kia is recalling 507,000 vehicles, including 2010-2013 Kia Fortes, 2011-2013 K...

  • Ford And Chrysler Killing Sedans Favors Their Japanese Competitors
    27 Apr 2018

Ford Motor announced Wednesday that it’s killing sedans from its U.S. dealerships, exception making only its legendary Mustang. By saying good buy to Focus, Fusion, Fiesta, and Taurus, it will double down on trucks and sports utilities. The Focus nameplate will stick around, only in the form of a crossover utility.  Ford is not alone, though. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles already cut the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200, focusing on more profitable Jeep SUVs and Ram pickups. General Motors has been reducing its sedan production, also, cutting back on its Cruze compact production. C...
