  • The long way of PEV sales in U.S.
    30 Mar 2017

When you ask people about their feelings for electric cars, you will get 2 answers, they either love them or either hate. There’s no one person who would be careless about the PEV market. Instead of just relying on opinions, especially at a time when everyone seems to have one, we decided to bring you some true PEV sales information from last year, putting together a handy infographic.  What is this info based on? Among that we’ve got PEV density by state last year, the best-selling PEVs for 2016, and monthly sales compared to 2015. First off, if you look at the monthly s...

  • Electric car sales rise in February
    08 Mar 2017

Electric car sales in the U.S. continued their strong showing in February, and that exactly means that despite rumors we’re having another monthly record. The 12,049 plug-ins sold last month translate to roughly a growth rate of 55 percent and plug-ins now stand at a 0.90 percent market share.   The big challenge, though, will be March, since that month in 2016 saw nearly 14,000 sales. The best-selling model so far this year has been the Chevrolet Volt, but a maturing market with a growing number of competitors means the differences between the leaders is pretty small. GM ...

Shanghai Chaos Investments and Switzerland-based Pala Investments as two of the companies that invested in cobalt last year, although the amount they’ve stockpiled is unknown. On Dec. 1, cobalt was just around $30,000 per metric tonne. One metric tonne equals 2,204 pounds. As of Monday, one metric tonne of cobalt was $49,000. That’s an increase of 63 percent in three months. However, EVs have not...

  • February car sales less resilient than anticipated
    01 Mar 2017

We were expecting for car sales to calm down in February, but despite all the expectations and predictions we were still hoping for better results. Bad news, U.S. auto sales showed to be even less resilient this month than anticipated. If we have to compare these results with February last year, than they are down 1.1%. Automakers like General Motors (GM), American Honda Motor Co., and Nissan North America reported new-car sales gains from a year ago. Volkswagen Group, plus the premium German nameplates and three independent brands, also posted sales increases. However, Ford Motor Co. (Ford) a...

  • Gasoline prices determined the future of PEV sales again
    15 Feb 2017

Gasoline and oil prices just like always determined the future and the present of electric and plug-in car sales. Back in 2014 when oil prices fell down, hybrid vehicles took a hit along with their risidual values in several global markets. Plug-in electrified vehicles – battery electric and plug-in hybrid – saw similar trends emerging at first.  However, PEVs have seen unit sales rise significantly in the U.S., Europe, and China during the past two years – as gasoline prices have stayed down. It appears that other market dynamics are influencing PEV sales now more ...
