A new sales record was reported by BMW Motorrad for the first half of this year, and it was the fourth record sales result in succession.
The Bavarian manufacturer managed to sell some 80,754 motorcycles and maxi scooters worldwide in the concerned period, that is to say 3 percent more units than the previous year. For the first time ever, BMW sold more than 80,000 vehicles in the first six-month period of a year. With these intermediary results, BMW may expect a sales record whole year.
All this being said, in the United States, BMW's unit sales have been worse in no less than four out of the first five months of the year and they continued to literally plummet in June. BMW’s strongest growth came in European markets, particularly in Spain, Italy and France. The R1200GS and R1200GSA continue to dominate BMW sales, with a combined 26,362 models going out the door in the first six months of the year.
