A car brand like Porsche, predicting what the car of 2040 will look like is relatively simple.
Ferrari launched a design contest to imagine what one of its cars might look like in 2040. Some 50 schools entered from around the world. Here you can see the design language of Ferrari, which the finalists created. 12 finalists have been chosen by Ferrari — three from four different design schools — and they differ widely in their structure, tone, and aesthetic philosophy. “de Esfera,” hailing from Hongik University in South Korea, is arguably the most traditional of the lot, while the oddball “FL” from Germany’s Hochschule Pforzheim looks more like a Sith Lord’s leisure shuttle than an Italian supercar.
The winner will be elected by an elite jury panel composed of Ferrari designers, engineers, drivers and popular collectors that include Sebastian Vettel, Paolo Pininfarina, Aldo Colonnetti, Nicola Boari, Franco Cimatti, Jay Kay, Rodolfo Gaffino Rossi, Flavio Manzoni, Nick Mason, Andrea Militello and Marc Newson (TBC).
The winners will be named on January 15, so cast your vote now on the dedicated Facebook page.
