After a car crash, some people may not have a clear enough head to do exactly what they need to do. They may forget to call or may wait too long. Some of them may be even unconscious or trapped inside the car.
But starting April 1st, 2018, the drivers in Europe don't have to worry about these things anymore because all the new cars will have to be equipped with eCall, a technology through which the cars will call the police themselves. According to a law that was passed in 2015, all the automobile manufacturers will be required to equip their vehicles with eCall technology. It is designed to automatically call 112, the European equivalent of America's 911.
If a serious accident occurs, the system should automatically call the emergency number 112 and wirelessly deploy the airbags and the impact sensor information. Then it uses the satellite system called Galileo, the Eu's equivalent of America's GPs, to send the data about the location of the vehicle to the emergency services.
